These earrings are part of an online contest with Nina Designs. They are sponsoring a a Blog Partner Earring Design Challenge. It’s a vote driven contest with earring designs made by past blog partners. Here is a link to another project I made with their components.
They selected four blog partners, sent them all the same components and
let their creativity run wild! The result: four beautiful and
completely different designs.
My earring are in third place :(
so I thought I would show my resin peeps how I made them and urge you to vote for me and resin earrings!
To begin, you can see that I started with simple wire framed earrings. Happily, they are silver and a joy to work with.
From the moment I saw them I knew they would frame anything I placed into them.
I applied a generous portion of Aleene's decoupage medium to this
fabulous tissue paper and set my earrings right into the glue.
When the glue was dry I cut away the extra tissue.
I applied a few more coats of decoupage medium. I let everything dry overnight.
The earring may be shallow...but as you can see they can still hold a
nice layer of Jewelry Resin. I poured resin into the earring shapes and
the tissue and wire held it in place!
I let the resin cure overnight.
Then I applied a glaze layer of resin to the reverse. You won't believe that you can make tissue paper so strong this way!
I hope you try working in an open frame like these earring are!
If you would like to vote for my earrings I would be so happy! The link to the Facebook contest is here!
