The blank head in my studio has joined it's friends now.
I wanted to show you the finished piece:
The Thinker
Keeping a blank head in my studio
was not easy. Every time I saw it
I thought about what to cover it in.
I thought it would be great covered in buttons, or sequins or
fabric. I thought about using
feathers, beads and vintage pattern paper. I contemplated slicing it in half, turning it into a piggy
bank or even trying to see if I could attach it to a body. I could not stop thinking about her and
therefore she became the thinker.
I filled her head with good
thoughts.
Carmi Cimicata
April 2012
The original sat in my studio for several week. I could not imagine what to do with it.
Bizzy B's owner Barb has given them to several artists in the hopes of generating funds for a special school.
I finally got some tissue and colour onto it.
The gold paint and fabric leaves were my favorite additions.
The Thinker is going to be auctioned this month at Bizzy B in Toronto.

This is gorgeous. Can't wait to see all the heads together. Thanks for the link to Bizzy B's.
ReplyDeleteStunning, Carmi!
ReplyDeleteI hope the auction gets lots of publicity and brings in tons of money.
This head is quote a showpiece. I love the gold and trailing vines too. They're what first caught my eye.
