Floral Mystery
Pretty pretty French flower! Friends, any idea what this is?
This is a Hellebore. I have two in my garden. The foliage stays green all winter long. There are Hellebore societies and some very serious collectors of these plants as there are many varieties.
I posted your photo to the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild . Yes this is a hellebore...also known as a Lenten Rose. Hellebores press very well and retain their colour. One of the first flowers to bloom in the spring. I have some pressed and they are lovely. Pam B
Oh, hellebores are so pretty! Poisonous, but very pretty. We've got a christmas rose (Helleborus niger) in that same colours at home. Got some pics of it in my blog if anyone's curious to see it: http://wildrosesandblackberries.blogspot.com/2010/04/colour-of-hellebore.html
lol, was going to be clever and say its a hellebore, but was beaten to it, be carefull the white milk from the stems will give you a rash and are poisonous, but yes they are gorgeous i have lots in the garden under the Christmas Tree. Nicola xx
Ditto on what Enjay said! I too was beaten to the punch. I love Hellebores! They are so gorgeous. What a lucky girl you are to have one gracing your garden!
