Save The Paris Apartment Rental!

Dear friends,
As you may know, temporary furnished rental accommodation is currently under threat in Paris, as well as in all the French cities with more than 200,000 inhabitants.
Paris City Hall has decided to forbid all rentals of less than one year (9 months for students) thus depriving tenants of a housing solution adapted to their needs.
Today, furnished rentals provides accommodation for student stays, as well as business and tourism stays, they offer a solution for tenants in emergency situations (divorces, family problems, delays in obtaining long-term housing).
This decision is devastating for the tenants, and for the economy of our beautiful city, too.
As a result of this decision, temporary furnished rental accommodation will become a clandestine sector.
It is equally disastrous for owners, with Paris City Hall demanding a change in how the property is used, something which is practically impossible to achieve. The required change in use does not allow the owner to occupy his property as he wishes, because, once the accommodation has been converted it is no longer a dwelling place but a commercial property.
Paristay.com is a founding member of the association, France Meublés - Paris Meublés, which brings together the main furnished rental accommodation agencies in France. Since January 2012, we have been working to defend the rights of both tenants and owners.
It is, in particular, thanks to your action that we will succeed in changing Paris City Council’s mind. Please sign our petition and pass it on to as many people as possible. The signatories’ names will not be communicated under any circumstances.

WE NEED YOU!

Best wishes
