Craft Fail - A New Book To Love

From the moment you pick up this
uniquely sized book you will smile.

Heather Mann
Founder and Chief exceutive failer at craftfail.com
Best job title ever!
“Written by Heather Mann, publisher of CraftFail.com, her hilarious blog with millions of page views and hundreds of thousands of followers, CraftFail celebrates the creative process, but from the other side. This is the stuff that gets the “A for Effort” and LOL for outcome. But once the laughter dies down, it also inspires a warm feel-good respect for crafters who aren’t afraid to fail. After all, even if there’s not a mortal alive except Martha who can make a Waxed Heart worthy of hanging in your window to catch the sun, why shouldn’t many try? When it goes wrong, why shouldn’t the rest of us enjoy this Epic Fail? And then look at all the full-color photos that document it."

I love this book because I have always tried to show my mistakes.  Usually, when I have a craft fail I learn something new or find a different way to make some sort of a craft recovery.

When the Craftfail Facebook page went live I immediately "liked it".
Pictures like these appear in my feed and I simply laugh out loud.
People's willingness to share their disasters is inspired.

I think what is important to note is this.

We are not laughing at,
we are laughing with.

I especially enjoy the holiday craft fails.
I too have fallen in love with a Martha Stewart cake photo
that was impossible to recreate in my own kitchen.

With my own projects I have determined that mistakes and fails can often become beautiful things.
This resin filled bezel was made from a piece of paper that had a major misprint.  Those "mistakes" were so interesting I turned them into jewelry.

The book has seven chapters covering home decor, fashion, holiday, food, Martha, Kids and other Craft Fails.  Food Fails is a delight.

I think one of my favorite food fails is the Craparons.
I can't imagine seeing a macaron in the future
without smiling about this version.

It goes without saying this book is a fun read.
It will provide a much needed laugh on a day you are down.
If you have a Craft Fail, you will feel you are in super company!
"CraftFail.com  was  founded  in  2009  as  a  blog  where crafters could share their failed craft projects. With the rise of Pinterest, and all those pretty, pretty pictures, CraftFail has taken on the task of juxtaposing the idealized images found online with the realities of basic crafting skills. As a “friendly fail” book, CraftFail will help people showcase their own failed projects so we can all laugh together and celebrate a spirit of creativity with a whole lot of LOLs."

  2. I love this, Carmi! The pictures bring back memories of my own. I too attempted a Martha Stewart cake that was a total disaster but become the conversation piece of the party. Yes, people laughed with me, not at me.
