Remixed Media DVD with Candie Cooper

With it being a holiday weekend in Canada (we have Monday off) I turned to my stash of items I set aside for when I am not busy.  For the last two weeks I have looked longingly at a DVD sitting right on top of my pile of books and magazines.  Candie Cooper has a new DVD dedicated to teaching you how to work with wood and acrylic to create custom jewelery.  Wood and acrylic are so inexpensive that you don't have to stress about making mistakes...and in fact, mistakes can result in some really fun pieces of jewelery.
The bracelet that is on the cover of the DVD highlights quite a few of the techniques Candie teaches you in the DVD workshop.  I am hoping to head out to Michaels craft store today to pick up a little wood to work with.  I have never created a collage on wood.  After watching this video I can see how amazing it would be to create a wood collage that could be cut down into smaller pieces which can then be incorporated into bracelets and one of a kind pendants.
Candie's chapter on filing and finishing taught me that there are a lot of dremel attachments I could be using to speed up my work.  After seeing how she uses a stone setting tip to add a crystal to a thick piece of acrylic I went rummaging through my dremel box to see if I already own the tip....I do, and it is still snuggled in the box unused.  Can't wait to try this technique!
This DVD is the perfect weekend workshop.  I already have everything I need to get started on a new project accept for the wood.  I am excited to start something new inspired by Candie's tips and techniques.
