Chandelier Glass Necklace

Okay, I am ready now to present my Chandelier Glass Necklace!

Like a lot of you, I have been collecting interesting chandelier glass. I love how they are pre-drilled and clearly destined to be used for jewelery. I chose an image, printed it and then glued the flat back side of the glass directly to the paper and let it dry overnight.

But then I didn't trust the glue to hold the paper to the back of the piece. I decided to reinforce it with a thin layer of resin. Now I can wear the glass against my neck. The resin will keep the paper from peeling away and it added a softer edge to the glass.

I LOVE this art deco postcard. Don't ask me where I got it...I can't remember! I did a lot of extra brightening with a deeper red in photoshop.

The jewelery zone got quite a workout creating this. You wouldn't believe that this was a clear surface eight hours ago.

It was for a good cause though. I am so happy to have made something wearable.

I did make one extra glass piece for another project. It is a close up of the angel wing. It is in my special odds and ends bin...just waiting to be used.

  1. Squeeee!! I love what you did with the chandelier glass, Carmi! So clever of you! The resin softening the edges makes it much more wearable. Love the image too - all in all a mixed media jewelry tour de force! Love it!

  2. Gorgeous! I like the idea of resin on the reverse - I always wonder about when directions just leave the paper back bare - I think it won't hold up - but your idea is great! Thanks!
