Giant Blank Canvas
I have tried for years to turn this space into a wild flower garden. Usually it just looked like weed heaven. Millions and perhaps even billions of wild flower seeds never produced the effect I was hoping for. So the space is all dug up. We still have some rototilling to do and then the soil needs some help before I can start planting anything. This time I am going to only put in groups of perennials on the large half and my hubby is responsible for a vegetable patch on the other side. I also plan to make my own path pouring some cement and embedding tile etc. This will be fun! But I'll be busy outdoors like a lot of you gardeners so there may not be as many art posts for the next few weeks.
Asparagus.
When we moved here almost ten years ago the owners were happy for us but sad for themselves because they had planted asparagus in the vegetable patch but never got to eat any. I think they take 2-3 years to actually become asparagus.
I can't stand the vegetable.
We have rototilled and turned over this bed many times...and yet here is the asparagus again. I don't think it will look nice next to a hosta plant...but what can you do? It wants to live.
I looked out yesterday and thought my Mom would have gone out and then made herself a nice lunch.

I'm so jealous! Last year was the first year I decided to plant asapargus and this year I checked and there are a few spears just starting to poke through. It'll take a while I guess...
i am so jealous, i love asparagus but have nowhere to grow it.
Next time i do a picture i'm going to draw asparagus!!!!!
That's so cute. I love the connection between the blank canvas and Tina drawing asparagus. I think I'll try this as well. I love asparagus.
i am with you on the garden front! we always have a great front yard, but our back yard needs some serious love!
love the asparagus
i know you will have it looking beautiful in a few weeks!!
I just love reading about your (non)wildflower garden year after year, LOL. See if you can beg or borrow lots of perennials from people. (and remember that hostas don't like the sun.....) I likely have lots of little plants -- coneflower, bergamot that I can share....
all that I can say about asparagus is YUCK!!!!
