Fiber Collage Necklace

This is my new fiber collage necklace.

One of the things I like the best about my feting machine is that I have no idea what will happen once the needles start punching. Fibers start to blend and join each other. Chiffon wrinkles. Lace intertwines. It is so exciting! This is one piece I worked on. When it was done, I set it aside thinking it really was a wearable collage.

If you saw it up close you would see the felts and other fibers all punched together. The colours just selected themselves for inclusion.

Since I wanted to wear it as a necklace, I pulled out some chain that I could sew to the finished collage. The fibers are very light, so I didn't need more than thread and a needle to hold a chain in place.

I added one metal word bead; Inspiration. This is how I plan to wear my necklace. Asymmetrical so that all the colours can be seen.
