Inspired By Trees

Last week on the Art Bead Scene blog I saw this pendant by Lorelai Eurto. I loved this image of a tree. This necklace had me thinking about trees.
And the fact that I have a little stash of tree inspired fabric.
I loved this tree trunk ring fabric so much...that I bought it in three shades. I think there is a fourth somewhere around here too.

I made a little template to cut out my circles. Then I made up my buttons. (I've shown you how I do that several times already.)

The buttons turned out great! They are so different! BUT. I could not leave them un-embellished.

The first button has a ring of pre-drilled agate rocks sewn all around the edge. The second has a spray of tiny metal leaves.

Then I brought out some beads. The hardest part of this experiment was getting my thin beading needle through the fabric. The fabric is very tightly packed into the button backer piece...and does not have a lot of give. I had to use one beading needle per button because they got so bent out of shape.
So, these are my tree button/pendants. They have a little attachment added so that they could be worn on a ribbon...but I think they are too fragile for that. They'll adorn a card instead.

Honestly Carm....I've just NEVER met anyone who can translate their ideas into fantastic finished art the way you do. I find everything you do so inspiring. Maybe this year I'll finally get up to see the One of a Kind show. I'll try.

These are wonderful! Where did you find the fabric? Do you know who the designer is?
