Reuse and Recycle Hand Sewing on Cards

It has been a good week in the studio even though I am slowed by an injured foot. My frustrated better half brought home a pamphlet from the doctors office outlining the three types of sprains...hopefully I don't fall into the scary "need physiotherapy" group. I have a sneaking suspicion that I do fall into the "may take 4-6 weeks to heal properly" group...yikes! So, I am trying to be good and keep my foot elevated....and not walk around too much.

Now, onto the art projects.

You might be surprised to learn that I am still keeping to my 24 art cards a day quota. These other projects are my "fun" experimental time in the studio. So, in honour of my card work, here are some ideas to reuse and recycle hand sewing.

First, the finished card featuring the crochet work in resin. I attached the bezel ornament to a card made of vintage paper and an additional crocheted flower.

Next, these embroidered sections were saved and attached to cards using a fabric glue. I loved the square edge of the napkin and added the buttons for embellishment.

This small ivory crocheted flower was easily attached within this circular card opening with a single stitch on each petal. The inside was lined to hide the stitching. Finally, the beautiful hand embroidered fish needed a permanent home. The linen it edged was too stained to repair...but the cut out work is still stunning.

I'll be looking for more vintage linens now that I have really started to make a dent in my stash!
